Neos Marmaras is the town of Sithonia’s west coast: a harbour, a marina, a long front of cafés and restaurants that is the liveliest place on the peninsula in the evening, and the Porto Carras estate next door with its golf course, vineyard and marina. It was founded by refugees from the island of Marmara in 1922 and has the feel of an island town, built up the hill behind the harbour.

The town has three beaches, sandy and organised, and better ones within minutes: Lagomandra and Kalogria to the north, Tristinika and Azapiko to the south. Boats leave the harbour for day trips around the peninsula; the Porto Carras marina has restaurants and a winery to visit. Nikiti is fifteen minutes, Toroni and Porto Koufo twenty, Sarti forty.

Villas are on the hill above the harbour with views over the gulf and the Kassandra sunset, and along the coast towards Porto Carras. Thessaloniki airport is an hour and a half.
