Villas and hotels in Polychrono

Polychrono (also written Polichrono) is the quieter neighbour of Hanioti and Kallithea on Kassandra’s east coast, a village of family hotels and villas along a long sandy beach, with two things the others do not have: the Mavrobara lake in the hills behind it, where two rare species of turtle live among the water lilies, and a village centre that has kept its plane trees and its pace.

The beach is the same long strip of shallow sand as its neighbours, organised in the centre and wilder towards Hanioti. The evenings are tavernas on the front and in the square; Hanioti’s pedestrian centre is a ten-minute walk along the beach, Kallithea’s nightlife ten minutes by car. The lake is a twenty-minute walk or a five-minute drive up the hill, with a path around it and a taverna at the top.

Villas are in the village and on the slopes towards the lake, many with pools and views over the gulf to Sithonia. Thessaloniki airport is an hour and five minutes.
