Villas in Gerakini

Gerakini is the first beach village on the road into Sithonia, forty-five minutes from Thessaloniki airport, with a beach that runs for kilometres along the top of the gulf. It has a big resort hotel at one end, a village of tavernas and family rooms in the middle, and long stretches of sand with pines behind them where the only sound is the water.

The beach is sandy and shallow, organised in front of the village and free elsewhere; the water is the calm inner gulf. Evenings are the tavernas on the front and, ten minutes away, Psakoudia and Metamorfosi; Polygyros, the capital of Halkidiki, is fifteen minutes inland with its Sunday market and cafés. Nikiti and the start of Sithonia’s coves are twenty-five minutes; Nea Moudania and Kassandra thirty.
